Fun Runs in the U.S.: 6 Crazy 5K Races You May Not Know Existed! by Tiffany Zook

Largely due to some creative themes for all ages to enjoy, 5K runs are becoming wildly popular. We’ve all heard of color runs and zombie runs, jingle bell and turkey trots during the holidays, but here are a few events that deserve honorable mention:
Walt Disney’s Goofy 5K full- and half-marathon in Orlando, “where every mile is magic.”
Think 2400 calories, 12 doughnuts, 5 miles, 1 hour. The Krispy Kreme Challenge benefits the North Carolina Children’s Hospital each February.
Tables overflow with this timeless classic at the Twinkie Run in Ann Arbor, Mich., annually on April Fool’s Day.
Ronald McDonald House nationwide hosts a Hot Chocolate 5K and 15K run.
The Boston Urban Iditarod replaces pups with people and shopping carts, crazy costumes and a bar crawl.
Cupid’s Undie Run has runners scantily clad in pink or red boxers and bras to find a cure for neurofibromatosis each February.
