Christmas is my favorite time of the year. It's the season of joy, family reunions, friendship and generosity, a time when we want to feel good and look great, and a time to look forward to the New Year. But many of us get uptight and stressed at the thought of Christmas. A survey from the American Psychological Association (APA) of more than 1500 people showed that Christmas comes second only to financial problems at the top of everyone's stress and worry list. These simple tips will help you have a stress-free Christmas:
- Plan your budget now and work out what you can afford. Don't feel pressured to overspend on anything. It's the thought that counts, so why not give people something homemade.
- If you're cooking Christmas dinner for the family and are filled with holiday anxiety, ask for a hand from your friends and family.
- Disagreements, arguments and even fights might break out at a holiday gathering, it's not something you can plan. Go with the flow and accept the flaws as part of life.
- Use exercise as a stress-buster and get enough sleep to fully enjoy the festivities with your loved ones.
Look back with gratitude, look ahead with hope and make this holiday season the most memorable time of the year.
Happy Holidays!
