Entrepreneur Families: 4 Ways to Include Kids While Building a Business

Finding ways to include your family in your business venture can be tricky, but also necessary. Here are a few tips to allow your children to feel that they are truly part of your business.

  • Set up a special space for them at the office and stock it with fun office supplies like sticky notes and colorful markers.
  • Allow them to help you with deliveries, if possible. Something as simple as a putting envelopes in the mailbox at the post office can put a smile on their faces.
  • Do you have a new product? Asking your child's input on naming or displaying the product can make them feel pride that you would look for their guidance.
  • When possible, include the family on business trips. Maybe there are fun activities that you can do together when the business day is done.

Great tips for including kids in your business, Nance Arquiett ! I did many of these things when my kids were little. Now that they're teenagers, they can do even more. This summer, my son, Cjall , is interning for #30Seconds. He has been editing videos, shooting our livestream show #30Seconds Live and helping with social media. He's even dabbling in tip writing (stay tuned). It's very cool to see him so excited about what we're building and be a part of it! Thanks for all you share with us!!

I love this, Nance Arquiett! Great tips! My kids love being involved in my writing/book signing/shipping endeavors, even if my 11 year old won't admit it! :)
