So often we hear about the importance of self-care, but just as often we, as busy women with careers and the demands of running a family, push it to the back burner and neglect ourselves. This week we were thrilled to welcome #30Seconds contributor Julie Burton as our Twitter chat guest. Julie, the author of "The Self-Care Solution: A Modern Mother’s Must-Have Guide to Health and Well-Being," will shared her thoughts on self-care and how we can modify our mindset and behavior to successfully incorporate self-care into our busy lives! Take some time for yourself and read on for her self-care tips!
Q: How do you define self-care?
Self-care is a value based on the following beliefs: I am worthy of caring for myself; my needs are important.Self-care sometimes meaning saying “yes” to you and “no” to others, and being OK with “disappointing” them. Self-care is an ongoing practice. Some days are better than others. But stay positive and never give up on yourself

Q: What are some ways for moms to practice self-care?
Self-care is doing something that feels good and brings you joy: a bubble bath, manicure or a taking a painting class. Self-care can be calling a good friend (or better yet seeing her in person) after a tough day with the kids. Self-care is getting up 15 minutes before the kids to take a brisk walk, practice yoga or drink your coffee in peace.

Q: How can moms manage the feelings of guilt when they take time away from their families to care for themselves?
Remind yourself and your family that you will be a happier and healthier mom if you take care of yourself. You may feel some guilt when leaving a crying child. Remember that it is OK to sometimes choose you. It’s unlikely that you’ll have the time and space for self-care so sometimes you’ll need to “fight” for yourself.
