2017 Annual Start-up Report: Female Founders Are Good for Business!

The 2017 Annual Start-up Report from TINYpulse concluded that the fastest-growing start-ups are 75 percent more likely to have a female founder. In addition, female-founded companies showed stronger performance overall. The study examined start-up culture, including retention. The research noted that retention was driven by factors such as management transparency and employee happiness.

For Forbes’ Victor Lipman, the take-away from the TINYpulse study, as well as other similar studies, is that “the power of diverse perspectives and a broad range of thinking – whether gender, ethnicity, culture, experience, age, etc . – is of substantive value for something as complex and multifaceted as a business enterprise.” He asserts that this is “all worth keeping in mind at a time when issues such as immigration and cultural diversity are receiving far more emotional national attention than at any other period in recent memory.”

All of us at 30Seconds.com are privileged to have Elisa All Schmitz as our founder and fearless leader. Her own commitment to diversity has enriched 30Seconds. Moreover, her commitment to her employees’ happiness has not only made a difference in retention, but has also positively impacted our own commitment to the company. My colleagues and I would like to thank Elisa and all the female entrepreneurs for all you do to enrich your companies, local communities and the global community.
