Narcissism Help: 3 Must-Know Rules for Dealing With a Narcissist

"Good grief did this hit a nerve. Now you need something that tells a woman how to get away from them or repair herself after he's screwed with her head. Gurl, I tell you it's no fun." – MtStHelen11, commenting on the tip Are You Dating or Married to a Narcissist? Here are 7 Red Flags

If you're in a relationship with a narcissist, like MtStHelen11, you know how intense and challenging it can be. Long ago, I learned the following three "rules" for how to handle these difficult relationships:

  • Rule 1: Don't debate with them. You'll never win. That's a core element of narcissism – always being right.
  • Rule 2: Set strong boundaries. Boundaries are "rules" for what you will and won't tolerate. It's crucial to set firm boundaries with narcissists, and to spell these rules out very clearly (write them down if needed).
  • Rule 3: Stay firm. Don't give in once you've set a boundary. It's not healthy for you, and it's not healthy for them either.

If you're in a relationship with a narcissist and these rules aren't enough, seek professional help for support and to determine your best next steps
