You Can Do It! How to Encourage Our Kids to Dream Big (Real Big)!

Driving home the other night I had to pull over when my daughter asked me a question that stopped me in my tracks. She'd been telling me about a space exploration invention she came up with and ended with, “but who would EVER listen to a 9-year-old girl?”

I asked her to think about what she had in common with every influential person she could think of. She racked her brain but wasn’t sure where I was going with it. I simply stated, “Every adult who has done anything extraordinary was a 9-year-old child at some point, so why shouldn’t they listen to you?”

Imagine my pride when I opened my computer and found a letter addressed “Dear NASA.” I can’t wait for her to get home this afternoon so I can hug her, tell her to always dreams big and get her letter in the mail!

I LOVE this, Kimberly Johnson! One of the best things we can do for our kids is give them confidence and encourage them to dream big! Writing that letter may be the beginning of something big for your 9 year old super star!

She has to pick a "historical" figure for a book report/presentation and Katherine Johnson is one of her top 3! <3

Proud mama moment! It's so important to instill confidence and self worth when they are young!

Love this Kimberly Johnson! I went to an all girl school for 13 years and they instilled in us this belief that we were the smartest kids around and that we could do anything! I wish my daughter went to an all girl school but in the meantime I will just continue to encourage her to dream HUGE and that anything is possible for her!
