To Little Girls: You Are Powerful & Deserving (We Parents Need to Remind Them)!

Remind your daughter every day of the words of the first woman from a major political party to run for President of the United States, Hillary Clinton. She was speaking to little girls just like yours when she said, “… never doubt that you are powerful and deserving to pursue your dreams. Our best days are still ahead of us.”

In the face of TV programing, advertising, cultural norms and political slogans that demean and belittle the dreams and aspirations of young girls and women, it’s up to us moms and dads to ensure that our daughters can pursue their dreams as easily as our sons. Like Hillary, let's be positive about our future.

Hey, moms: you, too, are powerful and deserving! Have a beautiful day.

Those were among my favorite words from her concession speech, @nicoledeavilla. We need to continue to inspire our daughters and sons to achieve their dreams and let them know they can achieve whatever they set their minds to. Thank you for sharing!

Obviously I was inspired by them too. I told them to my college-aged daughter when we FaceTimed last night.
