Handling & Processing Disappointment: 3 Things That May Help You & Your Kids! by Jan Mostrom

Processing disappointment is an important life skill we all need. And lets face it, we all want what we want, and it's hard when things don't go our way. Life is like that, and today, many of us are disappointed with the election results and we need to take time to sort through those feelings. I need time, space and a few tools to help with any disappointment.

  • Today I’m making a gratitude list. No matter how big the disappointment, I always have things to be grateful for. Today my kids are healthy, the sun is shining, I have food in the fridge, I have my eyesight to see the beautiful fall colors. Focusing on things I do have, rather than what I don’t, can really shift my mood.
  • Love people, yourself and others. Find a way to show that love today.
  • I need my faith. My faith reminds me that love is the answer especially when I have no answers. And my faith gives me peace.

Disappointments are a part of life. How we handle them is up to us!
