PlayCHIC Inspired Fashion With Chicago Toy & Game Week! by Christine Jones

It’s no secret fashion is about having fun, but imagine if you crossed toys and games with haute couture fashion! You’d get fashion pieces that have the power to stun and captivate people! And that’s exactly what happens at the PlayCHIC fashion show. Every year, for the past five years during Chicago Toy & Game Week, which is the largest toy industry fair and the only one that is open to the public, the crown jewel is a play-themed fashion show. Sponsors and co-hosts from Chicago Toy & Game Week joined us to talk about the event – and have some fun in the process!
Q: Tell us what inspired the PlayCHIC fashion show five years ago?
Fashion is about having fun! We thought how cool to pair toymakers and playful brands with fashion designers during Chicago Toy & Game Week. PlayCHIC has become the style-savvy jewel in the crown of the annual event. The show celebrates the talented inventors behind the toys and games we love to play brought to life in a fashion piece. We believe kids play dress up, grownups PlayCHIC. It’s incredible to see what comes down the runway by the talented designers. Last year we showcased this stunner designed by Michelle Tan, inspired by SpinMaster and Meccano. You can see more photos from last year here.

Q: Tell us more about this year’s designers.
We are thrilled to have Borris J. Powell not only as our host, but creating a Twister-inspired look for men. Borris believes in making women feel beautiful. He says, "When you look good, you feel good and everything else will fall into place.” Elda de la Rosa returns as a PlayCHIC alumni, who’s designs have been singled out by NBC news and top bridal publications! Elda will be working with Twister to create a one-of-a-kind gown. Each designer will also showcase pieces from their personal collections, too!
How lucky are we to have @borrisp! #PlayCHIC like you've never seen! #30secondmom
