How to Make DIY Chalk Bombs With Your Kids (Science & Art Collide!)

Your kids will get a colorful kick out of these DIY chalk bombs! This one is half science experiment, half art project. The chemical reaction between the vinegar and baking soda will make the bag expand then pop! You can swirl and move the chalk around with paintbrushes to make beautiful sidewalk art. (For outdoor use only!)

You'll need:

Here's how you do it:

  1. Add some vinegar (about 1/2 to 1 cup) to several zip bags.
  2. Add a drop or two of food coloring (or chalk paint) in each.
  3. When you’re ready to launch the chalk bombs, quickly add a tablespoon of baking soda then reseal.
  4. Shake and toss!
