Parents: Are You Stressed? 3 Ways to Help Take the Stress Out of Parenting!

There's no doubt about it: We live in a complex and complicated world, especially when it comes to parenting. Take one look around and notice how much has changed since you were a teenager. The amount of stress our teens face is growing every day. And as their stress grows, our stress as parents also grows. So what can you do? Starting now, try these three things:

  • Pay attention to how YOU react to things that don’t go as planned. What emotions are you feeling? What are your thoughts? Are your reactions creating the results you want?
  • Stop. Take a breath. Maybe take several breaths and CHOOSE A RESPONSE – one that will build up versus tear down.
  • Take time to understand what someone else is experiencing. What is the other person feeling right now? How is that impacting his/her thoughts and actions? How can you CONNECT and appropriately respond?

Awesome info! Much need this week with the craziness of 4 kids going back to school and ages range from freshman, 7th, 3rd and kindergarten. My brain is mush by the end of the night. But being aware of how I react, taking lots of deep breaths and paying attention to what they are all experiencing and feeling is a full time job LOL! Thanks for sharing Kelli Schulte ;)
