Want Politically Savvy Kids? Here's One Thing Parents Should Think About Doing at Home

Do you discuss politics at home? Discussing politics at the dinner table or in front of the TV is good for your kids and good for our country. Here's why:

  • Talking about politics is also an opportunity to discuss family values. Instead of just saying you are pro or con for an issue or candidate, explain why and how it relates to your values.
  • If spouses don't always agree, that's a great lesson on being an independent thinker and still be loving and loved.

Our country is stronger when we all participate. A habit of thoughtful conversations now will help create an informed and active participant in our democracy and in world events later. Just be mindful to keep the conversation age appropriate.

This is such an important tip, Nicole DeAvilla! I've been talking with my kids about politics since they were little. They have lots of opinions, LOL, and they know their vote is their voice. Hope everyone voted today!
