Our New #30SecondMom Office is @1871Chicago! by Elisa Schmitz

If you’re an entrepreneur, you know the feeling of wanting to change the world in some way. As long as I can remember, I’ve wanted to affect others positively with something I built. As a professional journalist and new-media entrepreneur, my way of doing that is by creating and sharing information, inspiration and connections. With my first business, iParenting Media, we shared great content and community through websites, magazines, radio and newspaper. That business was acquired by the Walt Disney Company, and I very much enjoyed my time at Disney.
Now, with 30Second Mom, we’re creating great content and community in a different way, with today’s on-the-go, mobile mom in mind. We produce helpful tips to make your life easier, and only ask for 30 seconds of your valuable time to read or watch a tip on video, then enable you to share the information easily via social networks. So whether you’re at the grocery store check-out or waiting in the school carpool line, you can get quick tips on your mobile device in no time at all and pass them on with just a touch.
The team at 30Second Mom is growing, and we just moved into our first office space: 1871, an innovative tech center for digital entrepreneurs, located in Chicago’s Merchandise Mart. 1871 endeavors to support early-stage tech companies like 30Second Mom and help them grow. 1871 believes that great entrepreneurs are out to change the world, but they can’t go it alone. They believe it takes a (digital) village to make big things happen. They know that innovation takes continuous learning and bold creativity. And my favorite, they point out that happiness is both an input and output of great work.
That’s why I believe 1871 is the perfect place for 30Second Mom to grow and thrive. The goal, of course, is for each company to outgrow 1871 and move into its own office. That’s what we call a “good problem.” But for now, you’ll find us happily hard at work alongside some of Chicago best and brightest young tech companies. We can’t wait to share this next step in our journey with you!
“Great people

That grow great cities
That grow great people.” – 1871
