Fa-la-la-la Learning: How to Encourage Kids to Read During Christmas Break!

One way I keep my kids reading during the holidays is to have a new book (bought or from the library) for each kid the day they're dismissed. I tell them that Santa will give them a special stocking stuffer for finishing the book. Just remember:

  • Keep the book short and at the appropriate level so they can finish.
  • Make sure in the holiday rush you give them time to actually read it.

My kids love the quiet time and break from the holiday chaos. The special stocking stuffer? A new book, of course! This is a simple way to promote the love of reading at a young age.
