Family style is when serving dishes are placed on the table and everyone gets to serve themselves – even toddlers and preschoolers (with help). It’s a great way to get picky eaters to try new foods. Why?

  • Kids want to grow up and mimic what they see others doing. Serving themselves seems like such a “big boy” or “big girl” thing to do.
  • Cautious kids often crumble under the pressure of being forced to try something. Serving family style allows them to proceed at their own pace.
