Struggling to Get Your Kids to Eat Their Vegetables? It May Be Time for Negotiations!

Do your kids fight you when it comes to eating vegetables? A way that works for me is to negotiate using something they enjoy doing. Yes, you may have to withstand a little push back. You can do it. Be strong. Persist. Their futures depend on fueling their minds and bodies properly. My three top bargaining chips are:

  • No television until you eat some veggies.
  • No video games time until…
  • No dessert until…

I give them less than I’d actually like to give them and require a 70%-ish completion rate. A small amount doesn’t appear so daunting, and when I approve of the amount they’ve eaten, they feel I’m being sympathetic! Sooner or later their taste buds will mature and negotiations will go the way of stuffed animals and kissing you in public!
