Sudden Infant Death Syndrome: 5 Tips to Help Reduce the Risk of SIDS!

Sudden Infant Death Syndrome (SIDS) refers to a baby younger than age 1 who dies during sleep without a clear reason. SIDS is also known as crib death. Here are five tips to help reduce the risk of SIDS!

  • Put Baby to sleep on his back. Sleeping on the tummy is linked to SIDS, likely due to breathing difficulties.
  • Firm and uncluttered bed, without blankets and stuffed toys.
  • No smoking! Prenatal and secondhand smoke are linked to SIDS.
  • Sleep near Baby, but do not share the bed.
  • Breastfeed.
