Sudden Infant Death Syndrome (SIDS) refers to a baby younger than age 1 who dies during sleep without a clear reason. SIDS is also known as crib death. Here are five tips to help reduce the risk of SIDS!
- Put Baby to sleep on his back. Sleeping on the tummy is linked to SIDS, likely due to breathing difficulties.
- Firm and uncluttered bed, without blankets and stuffed toys.
- No smoking! Prenatal and secondhand smoke are linked to SIDS.
- Sleep near Baby, but do not share the bed.
- Breastfeed.
