Adoptive Parents: Know the Power of Making Up For Lost Time!

Adoptive parents know our children have missed out on a lot of cuddling, rocking and nestling with a parent. Those physical interactions help the child's body learn from the nurturer's body how to calm down and self soothe. Children who have not enough nurturing may have nervous system distress and impaired attachment development.

The GREAT news is that the plasticity of the brain allows you to "make up" by going back in time. Even if your child is much older, cuddle, rock, feed by hand (at home), coo, let your child lie on you and just breathe. Over time, you'll be grateful for the impact!
