Strep Bacteria Infections: 5 Things That Could Put Your Family at Risk!

When people think of a strep infection they usually think strep throat. But there are other types of strep bacteria. These bacteria, and many other bacteria, live on our bodies and more often than not, we don’t even notice it. Our skin is our best barrier between our bodies and the bacteria. When our skin has been injured or compromised, the bacteria has an inroad into our bodies to create an infection. Things that can compromise your skin include:

  • biting fingernails causing open sores
  • eczema
  • toenail fungus
  • cracks in our skin from diabetes and poor circulation
  • untreated open wounds

Keep wounds clean and watch for signs of infection.
