Does Your Child Have Eczema? Here's What to Look For! by Mei Marcie
If your baby or child has skin rashes, it is important to obtain a diagnosis. While certain rashes like acne neonatorum (infant acne) may not need treatment, many other rashes warrant a consultation with a doctor. One of the conditions that requires treatment is atopic dermatitis, better known as eczema. Generally, about 20 percent of children have atopic dermatitis and symptoms occur before the age of 5. The symptoms of eczema include:
- itch
- dryness
- redness
- thickened skin
- oozing blisters
They usually occur on the cheeks, face, torso, neck and flexural areas of the child.
