Left-Brain Thinking Vs. Right-Brain Thinking: How to Banish Your Inner Crabby Mom!

Experts have mapped processing styles that ensure success in the workplace and home. Left-brain thinking, or “work mind,” is goal oriented and logical. When the right side, or intuitive, “family mind” is at work we’re most present to our loved ones. Do you remember to switch between the two at the end of a hectic day?

  • Try a minute or two of meditation.
  • Take a longer route home.
  • Simply reminding yourself to let go of your lists and become centered on the present moment.

These re-engage the right hemisphere. By the time you get home a crabby, short-fused mom won't be in charge – you will!

This is fascinating, Allison Peacock ! I am a huge fan of meditation, it resets my mind. I like the idea of taking time to make the switch before you re-engage with the family.

What a helpful way to look at right-brain left brain. I usually think of it as workstyle. For example I am totally left-brain. But not really bc creativity takes both right and left brain qualities. But thinking about this paradigm like you did here Allison Peacock makes it very accessible.
