No one wants to believe that their child has developed an eating disorder, and the sad truth is, many parents miss the signs. While there are many articles available online for reference with signs like excessive weight loss or a sudden fear of gaining weight, be sure to pay attention to what your child says to you – and what they don't.

Many times eating disordered children are ashamed to readily admit they have a problem. Perhaps the frequent requests to join a formal dieting program at a young age or refusal to be seen in a swimsuit in public mean it's time for a serious conversation.
