Sensory Processing Disorders in Kids: They're More Common Than You Think

Sensory disorders in children are more common than you may think. For a variety of reasons, many are more sensitive to the environment, including but not limited to sounds, lights and other biofeedback not visible or intrusive to others. When triggered, it is not always easy for the child to express what is bothering them, but once things are calm, taking the time to ask and discuss can create a deeper trust and understanding between you and your child.

Once identified, you can make efforts to remove or lessen the causes of discomfort, thus creating a more peaceful environment, a happier child and relief for parents. Understanding the symptoms and causes of sensory disorders can be the first step in trying to help to treat it.

What would happen if the word "disorder", which is such a negative label, was replaced by the word "condition"? I mean Is it just me or doesn't sensory condition sound better than sensory disorder?
