Teen Sleep Recommendations: Are Your Teenagers Getting Enough Sleep? by Mindy Hudon, M.S., CCC-SLP

The American Academy of Pediatrics (AAP) recommends teenagers get between eight and 10 hours of sleep each night. Unfortunately, most teenagers don’t get enough sleep. They can become deprived because of:
- school start times
- extracurricular activities
- homework
- social life
Lack of sleep can lead to:
- moodiness
- decreased attention
- low energy
These things can ultimately impact school performance and behavior. Teenagers need a scheduled bedtime. Ideally, they should go to bed at the same time every night and get up at the same time every morning.
Sleep is vital to your teen’s well-being! Read the AAP's sleep guidelines for all ages!
