Golden Elixir Drink Recipe: Healthy Turmeric Recipe Renews Body, Mind & Spirit

A Golden Elixir drink is a creamy combination of inflammation-fighting turmeric and cinnamon, prebiotic-rich raw honey and almond milk. I discovered it while staying at The Phoenician, an inspiring resort set against the dramatic backdrop of Camelback Mountain in Scottsdale, Ariz. Surrounded by cacti, palms and sunshine, healthier choices seem easier to make.

This golden turmeric-based drink is said to renew your mind, body and spirit because of the health benefits of turmeric, cinnamon and raw honey. For a spicy kick, add a little ground cayenne pepper or black pepper, which have health benefits, too.

Ingredients

  • 2 cups almond milk
  • 1 tablespoon raw honey
  • 1 teaspoon turmeric
  • 1 teaspoon cinnamon
  • 1 tablespoon coconut oil (optional)

Here’s how to make it:

  1. Combine all the ingredients in a sauce pot. Bring to a boil, reduce heat and simmer for about 5 minutes.
  2. Pour into a mug. Garnish with a cinnamon stick, gooseberry or sprinkling of ground cinnamon. Serve hot or cold.

I have heard that turmeric may help boost metabolism as it helps reduce inflammation, Donna John . None of this stuff is scientifically proven that I am aware of, but anecdotal evidence and support from holistic healthcare providers say so. I take a turmeric supplement every day (and I drink ginger tea every day). I figure it can't hurt and may help, so let's do it!
