Getting Burned Out, Parents? Read These Words of Encouragement "From the Parenting Trenches!"

Parents, are you getting burned out? Let me offer you some words of encouragement "from the parenting trenches."

It's easy to tire of the "parenting slog," the daily reminders to "brush your teeth, say please, do your chores..." Whatever it is that you are trying to teach that seems to take an eternity. My daughters are 10 and 11 now, and the good news is that many of the slog lessons have finally stuck!

Sure, it took three years of listening to excessive whining: "MOM, I CAN'T DO THIS!" (emptying dishwasher) or "I CAN'T BRUSH MY TEETH!" (translation: I don't want to). But parents, take heart. Day in and day out ... the things you are teaching will click. I promise. One day, your children will amaze you. Hang in there!
