Mindful Christmas Spirit: 4 Easy Ways to Feel & Show Gratitude Throughout the Holidays

Losing sight of the true spirit of the holidays isn’t hard with all the distractions, errands and added stress of the season. Here are four easy ways to feel gratitude in your heart and share the sentiment with others. These tips will help the holidays be more meaningful for you and your family!

  • Write yourself a love letter: Who better to appreciate than yourself? Grab yourself a nice, warm beverage and sit down with a notepad and pen. Spend 10 short minutes listing all the reasons why you love yourself and all the ways you make the lives of others around you better. Don’t be stingy! You will see that you contribute much more throughout the year than you thought and that you deserve to be recognized for being you!
  • Give genuine compliments: Take that eye for appreciation and turn it toward others. This is a great time of year to slow down and notice the great things about others around you. Compliment a stranger. Smile at children. Tell the important people in your life why you love and adore them. Be sure to be genuine in your compliments. If you take a few minutes, you can always find a reason to be appreciative of another.
  • Indulge and share: That’s right! Enjoy yourself! Eat that slice of pie or a few cookies. Have a little eggnog if you choose to drink. Buy yourself that extra special gift you have been craving all year long. Appreciate the good things in your life and share that good with others!
  • Reminisce: Find a quiet moment to travel back in time in your memory and call forth all the wonderful times you have experienced. No matter who you are, you have quite a story to tell. Appreciate all that you have been through and all the amazing moments you have been fortunate enough to have participated in year after year.

Gratitude is a simple way to shift yourself into a good mood and feel the love and camaraderie of the season. What other ways do you experience gratitude?
