Goat Yoga: This Type of Yoga Practice MMMEEHHH Be the Best Day Ever

The practice of yoga is known to improve endurance, flexibility, strength and mindfulness. It’s gentle and relaxing especially when there are baby goats around. That’s right, goats! Michelle Lyon, owner of Kingdom Kids Family Farm, knows that sometimes people feel intimated to take a yoga class. “Many people feel shy to try … Imagine a yoga class with the added benefits of goats … that makes it much easier to try!”

Goat yoga incorporates animal therapy within the practice of traditional yoga. As the instructor guides participants through poses, cute little goats prance around and visit guest throughout the class. According to GoatYoga.net, research suggests that interaction with animals temporarily affects the release of neurotransmitters while decreasing cortisol levels in the brain. Here’s what you need to know about goat yoga:

  • Goats are distracting. You may miss a pose or two petting and interacting with the adorable goats.
  • Goats like to nibble on mats, hair, etc. They’re goats, after all.
  • All wildlife comes with germs. Bring hand sanitizer.
  • Goat yoga classes are typically on a farm, so don’t be offended – it may smell like a barn.
  • Poop and pee come with the experience! If you can’t handle that, don’t go!
  • Side effects: smiles, laughter and the best day ever!
