Weight Loss: 3 Things You Need to Know From a Personal Trainer by Dawn Taylor

As a personal trainer I’m fortunate to help people get started on fitness routines so they can achieve success with their goals. Truth is, I’m just there to show them the ropes until they’re comfortable in the gym setting most of the time. Yes, I show them how to use equipment and teach them about calorie deficits, but once they realize it’s not rocket science they fly solo.
Personal trainers aren’t cheap! So to save you a few dollar let me break it down in three easy steps so you can see how easy it is. Really!!
- Eat less. By reducing 500 calories a day you can lose 1 pound a week. There are 3,500 calories in a pound. Make your portions at each meal smaller, drink water instead of sugary beverages, etc. It’s easier than you think!
- Move more. Get up and move. Aim for at least 60 minutes every day. You can break it up into small increments – it all adds up. All you need are a pair of comfortable shoes to walk. Add strength training to your day and you’ll burn more calories!
- Push yourself. I don’t mean running a 4-minute mile, but you must get your heart rate up. Google target heart rate to learn yours.
If all else fails, I know a good personal trainer.
