A Dose of Reality: 7 Flu Shot Facts That Will Send You to the Clinic

We’re getting to the heart of flu season, and after a slow start, this nasty bug is gaining steam across the U.S. If you’re still deciding whether to get a flu shot for you or your family, consider these facts:

  • Everyone older than 6 months needs a flu shot, period.
  • The shot takes two weeks to become effective, so get it now if you haven’t already. It’s not too late. Flu season runs through April, so buckle up.
  • A sore arm is nothing compared the full-blown flu, so stop complaining about side effects.
  • Even with a flu shot, you may still get sick, just not as sick.
  • The shot doesn’t protect you from every strain, just the most dangerous.
  • Your flu shot will help prevent the spread of the flu, which is important for babies and elderly folks with weaker immune systems.
  • It’s impossible to get the flu from a flu shot, so stop spreading that bad rumor.

A flu outbreak in your family will surely ruin the holidays, so get your shot today!

Nope. Won’t get one, although everyone is free to make their own medical decisions, be informed:

1. Contain preservatives that are considered toxic to the human body. Thimirosal is one, and is mercury based, a mineral your body never gets rid of and is associated with brain disorders.

2. The vaccine either introduced live or dead virus directly into tissues, which can actually get you sick from the shot. The spray is a genetically engineered version of the virus and not naturally occurring, so it doesn’t seem like your immune system is being prepped to fend off anything you’re going to run into out in the populace.

3. The virus you get may not be the strain that is going around. The side effects above, but then get it closed to a virus you aren’t even vaccinated against...sort of increases the odds of getting sick.
