Nordic Walking: Fall Is a Great Time to Experience the Healthy Benefits of This Whole-Body Workout

Nordic walking involves using trekking poles or walking sticks while hiking or walking. It is similar to cross country skiing except that you are on foot.

Nordic walking provides a whole-body workout, as it requires you to move your arms and torso while walking. An added bonus is that the trekking poles provide added stability for those who have balance issues. You simply cannot go wrong Nordic walking.

Fall provides a great time to take up this workout routine. By engaging in Nordic walking while taking in the beauty of an arboretum, forest preserve or park, you won't even feel like you're working out.

To find good quality trekking poles, visit an outdoor sports retailer like REI or Sierra Trading Post, or click on the Amazon link below.

I've been doing something sort of like this workout. I walk with a plastic pole (I think it used to be shower curtain rod. I use it because of arthritis and since I live in the country I may need it to fight off stray wildlife..or wild people:). Now I just need to find another pole. Nice post!
