VITAHL Medical Aesthetics Rolls Out Red Carpet Treatment for Women Battling Breast Cancer

In honor of Breast Cancer Awareness Month, VITAHL Medical Aesthetics, 1135 W. Madison St., Chicago, hosted a complimentary Red Carpet Treatment Day for a select group women undergoing treatments for breast and all other cancers. Monday, October 2, these women enjoyed three hours filled with hydrating facials, makeup applications, emotional wellness support, a dance therapy session, a spa lunch and more.

“Cancer is all encompassing,” said Dr. Tahl Humes, VITAHL medical director and founder. “Treatments take a toll on physical and emotional health. The skin, the body’s first line of defense, is often affected by chemotherapy and radiation. While daily care is ideal, a pampering facial at a reputable, self-regulating medical practice can be just what the doctor ordered.”

Dr. Ritu Trivedi-Purohit, clinical psychologist and founder of Thriveosity, a subscription-based care package for cancer patients, introduced the day with a mindfulness session and concluded with tips on attending to yourself on the inside and out. Make Up First applied simple make up regimens that these women can use on the days they’re feeling up to it. Erica Hornthal, founder of Chicago Dance Therapy, led short sessions on how to incorporate music and movement into daily living to help with muscle memory, mind-body wellness and presence. Belvedere Events & Catering donated a delicious spa luncheon and Northbrook’s Jar Bar treated the women to sinfully sweet Cake Jars.

“It was a wonderfully intimate gathering of women who have never met before, but instantly bonded through experience,” said Dr. Humes. “While VITAHL provided hydrating facials and goody bags filled with skincare products, we were honored that a handful of women-owned and run local businesses collaborated with us.”
