Want to Reduce Your Family's Obesity Risk? Stop Doing This One Common Thing!

We know that obesity is potentially harmful, being linked to type 2 diabetes, cardiovascular disease and some types of cancer. While what we eat will affect our weight, does how we eat our meals affect the risk of obesity?

Researchers from Ohio State University examined the link between family meals and obesity risk. They found that while there was no link between the frequency of family meals and obesity risk, those who never watched TV or videos during family meals were 37 percent less likely to be obese. Not watching TV or videos and eating home-cooked meals showed the lowest risk of obesity. The study was published in the Journal of the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics.

Why not re-examine how you eat your meals? Consider cooking healthy meals at home more often and turning off the TV! Read more about this study via MNT here!
