I Need More Vitamin C Than the Recommended Amounts: Here's the Surprising Reason Why!

Most of us assume that if we eat lots of fruits and veggies we don't have to worry about vitamin C levels, but that’s not quite the case. My nutrient test results revealed low levels of vitamin C – despite a diet high in vitamin C. I learned the following after further genetic testing: You are expected to have low levels of vitamin C in serum by genetic factors. Therefore, you should take vitamin C supplements for your healthy life.

The more technical explanation involved the effectiveness of the SLC23A1 gene. This means that the recommended daily allowance would not be adequate to keep my body functioning optimally if I have difficulty absorbing the vitamin C I consume. Consider testing to determine whether and why you may be deficient in necessary vitamins.

Crazy huh! For all the fruits and veggies that i ate, i was so shocked when i did my nutrient testing to find out i was low in vitamin C. So happy i found out why - so now i take 1000 mg twice daily in addition to what i get in my diet. And it makes a difference -especially as it relates to dry skin and inflammation of my gums. Talk to a doctor in your area about getting your nutrients tested first because you may not have a defective gene.
