What Does a Pharmacist Give Her Kid When He’s Sick? Find Out!

I am very cautious about what remedies I give my son. Some over-the-counter medications carry the risk of serious side effects and require precautions. Plus, they can mask a problem. Here’s what I keep handy!

  • For bruises and muscle strains: Arnica, available in tablets or gel, is a good homeopathic remedy. It can reduce pain and swelling and speed healing.
  • For allergies: Antihistamines can cause significant drowsiness along with dry eyes and mouth. A safer option is Similasan Kids Allergy Eye Relief. This homeopathic formula helps relieve itching, redness and excessive eye watering.
  • For improving resistance to colds and coughs: This can be as easy as letting kids have a yummy strawberry lozenge. Researchers have found an advanced way to support our mouth’s immune power with a probiotic called BLIS K12. Found in various chewing gums and fast-melt lozenges, it strengthens the immune system, particularly for the mouth, throat and ears.
  • For constipation: Soluble fiber supplements can help improve digestive function and relieve constipation. Choose a product that contains Sunfiber – it mixes well with water, is taste-free and odor-free, and can even be added to baked goods.
