My son immediately got caught up in the “Pokemon Go” craze and I, an admitted gaming dunce, downloaded it to see what all the fuss was about. Since there was just one Pokemon I could catch in my house, I went for a walk. A week later things are very different...
- I'm still terrible at games, but I tend to find walking boring and this is interactive and fun to do.
- My step count has tripled. I'm sure my Fitbit is hiccuping a little at the extra activity but, like me, our battery life is increasing slowly.
- My younger son is now playing because it’s always fun to beat Mom at games.
- The boys and I have had more conversations in these last few days than we've had in the few weeks. “What did you catch on your last walk?” has turned into a terrific starter topic.
