Winter Food Ruts: How to Beat the Winter Blues With Summer Foods

I’m in a winter food rut. Summer’s easy – we love farmers' markets for fresh local food and grill out most nights. During the winter, though, I tend to make the same (heavier) dishes. I decided to integrate more "summer" foods into my winter menu, starting with serving watermelon as a side!

I also plan to "grill in" some of our summer favorites using an indoor electric grill. Although a lot of fruit is out of season, frozen versions are a great substitute. Great summer fruits options:

  • peaches
  • strawberries
  • pineapple
  • apricots

Moms, a frozen strawberry daiquiri would be a fantastic treat for YOU!
