Stressed Out? Overwhelmed? Worried? Ask Yourself "What If...?" Here's Why! by Dr. Christina Hibbert

When I feel overwhelmed, stressed, fearful, anxious, worried, I've learned to ask myself one powerful question: "What if?"

  • "What if I didn't feel this way?"
  • "What if I didn't listen to or believe my negative thoughts?"
  • "What if I could just let this go?"

Asking "What if" allows us to imagine what life would be like if we COULD let things go. Would we feel better? Almost always the answer is yes. Then we can choose to follow that peaceful vision and make it a reality.

The next time you feel overwhelmed, ask "What if?" and imagine how good life could, and can, be.
