Creamy Hot Chocolate Recipe With Fluffy Peppermint Whipped Cream by Katie Lewis

Baby, it’s getting really cold outside. Warm up this holiday season with this hot chocolate recipe that has a fun peppermint whipped cream on top. Mmm!
This is a festive hot cocoa drink recipe to serve on Christmas Day or Christmas morning. Decorate mugs of the hot chocolate with candy canes. Makes a delicious dessert, too.

Ingredients
Whipped Cream
- 1 cup cold heavy cream
- 3 candy canes
Hot Chocolate
- 2 tablespoons unsweetened cocoa powder
- 1 - 2 tablespoons sugar
- pinch salt
- 1 cup milk
- 1/4 teaspoon vanilla
Here's how you make it:
- For the whipped cream, crush the peppermint candy. Whip the cream until soft peaks form. Add in 2 to 3 tablespoons crushed candy canes and continue to whip until heavy peaks form. Store in the refrigerator.
- For the hot chocolate, whisk together the cocoa, sugar, salt and milk in a saucepan over medium-low heat until cocoa and sugar are dissolved. Stir in vanilla.
