This 2-Ingredient Yogurt Bread Recipe Is Your Weekend Baking Therapy by Jan Mostrom

This 2-Ingredient Yogurt Bread Recipe Is Your Weekend Baking Therapy

Fresh bread has never been easier than this two-ingredient yogurt bread recipe. This incredibly easy and warm yogurt bread recipe is ready in about an hour and is a delicious addition to any meal. I couldn't wait and ate it warm from the oven with some butter, but it was equally as good toasted with jam and honey for breakfast the next day.

To make this two-ingredient homemade bread recipe you will need self-rising flour (see Recipe Notes) and low-fat vanilla yogurt (do not use Greek yogurt in this recipe). The bread bakes up in the oven in about 35 minutes.

If you wanted you could add raisins or chocolate chips for a sweeter bread, or add some chunks of cheese and fresh herbs for a savory dinner bread. In any case, this low-sodium bread is delicious and so worth the minimal prep time. Serve this bread warm as a side dish with dinner or for breakfast or brunch

Recipe Notes

  • Greek yogurt does not work in this recipe.
  • If you don't have self-rising flour, you can use 3 cups all-purpose flour plus 4 1/2 teaspoons baking powder and 1/2 teaspoon salt.

Here's how to make it:

  1. Sift flour into a bowl. If you are using all-purpose flour, sift flour, baking powder and salt into a bowl.
  2. Fold in the yogurt and mix thoroughly. If there is still remnants of flour wet clean hands and use them to combine the last bit of flour into the dough.
  3. Spread the dough into a parchment paper-lined loaf pan.
  4. Bake in a preheated 375-degree F oven for 35 to 40 minutes, covering the top with a loose aluminum foil or a silicone pad halfway through cooking time if it gets too brown. (Mine was just fine uncovered the whole time.)
  5. Cool on a rack for 5 minutes and serve warm with butter and toppings of your choice or cool completely and toast to warm up!
