Easy Baked Salmon Patties Recipe: A Healthy & Nutritious Gluten-free Dinner

Salmon is one of the healthiest proteins you can eat for lunch or dinner. And salmon patties are one of the easiest meals you can prepare for your family. This baked salmon patties recipe is healthier than most because it also has vitamin-rich sweet potatoes, fresh herbs and is made with almond flour, so it's a gluten-free recipe.

For this healthy salmon patty recipe you'll need canned salmon, mashed sweet potatoes, an egg, almond flour, green onions, fresh parsley, fresh dill and smoked paprika. The ingredients are mixed together, formed into patties and baked until hot and slightly crisp on the outside. Quick and easy!

If you don't cook with almond flour, you could use whatever flour you like. If you're not sure about canned salmon, we have some tips on cooking with canned salmon for you. Serve these baked salmon cakes for dinner with a vegetable and a side salad. If you have to dip those salmon patties, make some homemade tartar sauce.

Ingredients

  • 3 cans (6 ounces each) salmon, drained well 
  • 1 cup mashed sweet potatoes
  • 1 egg
  • 1/2 cup almond flour (or your favorite flour)
  • 2 - 3 green onions, chopped
  • 2 tablespoons minced fresh flat-leaf parsley
  • 2 tablespoons minced fresh dill 
  • 1/2 teaspoon smoked paprika or regular paprika
  • olive oil, for the baking sheet

Here's how to make it: 

  1. Put the salmon, sweet potato, egg, flour, green onions, parsley, dill, salt (to taste), black pepper (to taste) and paprika into a mixing bowl. Mix well. 
  2. Shape the salmon mixture into patties (about 1/3 cup each) and put onto a parchment paper-lined baking sheet that has been drizzled with olive oil. 
  3. Bake in a preheated 425-degree F oven for about 20 minutes. Flip the patties over and bake about 10 minutes more.
