Easy Probiotic Ranch Salad Dressing Is Full of Health Benefits

This is a quick and healthy alternative to creamy ranch dressings. This healthier ranch salad dressing recipe is made with kefir (pronounced kee-feer), fresh lemon juice, garlic powder, onion powder, dill and parsley. You can be drizzling it on that salad in less than 10 minutes!

Never cooked with kefir before? Kefir is a fermented milk drink made with cow, goat or sheep milk. Historians believe that kefir originated "centuries ago in the Caucasus Mountains in Eastern Europe near present-day Turkey. The word kefir is derived from the Turkish word 'keif,' which translates to 'good feeling.'" Because it is fermented, kefir is a popular drink for gut health. Kefir is a better probiotic food choice than yogurt! And there are many more health benefits of kefir.

This homemade, gluten-free kefir ranch dressing is wonderful on top of a spicy honey chickpea bowl or any other salad or vegetables. The low-sodium salad dressing is light and refreshing! This version is slightly thinner than traditional ranch dressings, but so delicious you might never go back!

Recipe Notes

  • If you don't have a salad dressing cruet or mason jar, whisk the ingredients together in a mixing bowl. You can store the salad dressing in an airtight container.
  • Feel free to change up the herbs and seasonings to fit your family's tastes.
  • Squeeze your own fresh lemon juice because fresh is always best!

Here's how to make it:

  1. Combine all the ingredients in a container with a lid. (Small mason jars work great for dressings!)
  2. Shake thoroughly and keep covered in the refrigerator for up to two weeks.
