Creamy Ham Mashed Potatoes Recipe Is How to Use Leftover Ham (5 Ingredients)

Buy too much ham from the grocery store deli or bake a ham for a get-together and don't know what to do with the leftovers? Make too many mashed potatoes for dinner? Turn leftover ham and mashed potatoes into porkified mashed potato goodness!

Besides the leftover mashed potatoes and cubed fully cooked ham, you'll need butter, onion and garlic powder for this mashed potato recipe. Cook the onions in a little butter until soft, then stir in the mashed potatoes, ham and garlic powder. Season with salt and pepper and heat through. That's it!

You could easily cut this gluten-free potato recipe in half if you only have 2 cups of mashed potatoes leftover and less ham. If you like creamier potatoes, add a little half and half, milk or cream. Serve these porky mashed potatoes as a side dish with your favorite protein for dinner. You could even shape them into patties and pan-fry until golden brown. Sounds delicious, right?

  1. Melt the butter in a saucepan. Add the onion and cook, stirring, about 2 to 3 minutes. 
  2. Add the mashed potatoes, ham and garlic powder. Season with salt and pepper, to taste. Stir until heated through.
