Basic Powdered Sugar Glaze Recipe: A Recipe Every Baker Needs

Sometimes a dessert needs a little something something to make it even extra special. Every cook and baker needs a basic powdered sugar glaze recipe in their arsenal. This easy dessert glaze recipe has just three ingredients and is ready in about five minutes.

The powdered sugar glaze is simply powdered sugar, milk and vanilla, which is optional. Whisk together the ingredients, adding more or less milk to create a thicker or pourable glaze. Keep in mind that if you use the vanilla, it will add a wonderful flavor, but change the color of the glaze to an off white. You could use clear vanilla to keep it pure white.

Use this simple powdered sugar glaze on sweet breads, cakes, cupcakes, cookie bars, cookies, pies, cobblers, and even waffles of pancakes. To change things up, try adding lemon extract, almond extract or other extracts for different flavors.
