Grandma's "Just Cookies" Cookie Recipe: A Vintage 4-Ingredient Recipe

Seems like so many recipes are being revamped, revised and revisited lately to make them quirkier, fancier or more interesting. And while some of those recipes went viral, some things are best left alone, just ask your grandma.

This vintage recipe is called Just Cookies because that is exactly what it is – just cookies. Nothing fancy here, just four simple ingredients mixed up and baked. And we guarantee no one will complain after the first bite.

Store these vintage cookies as a low-sodium anytime snack and keep them in an airtight container on the counter, if they don't get eaten right off the cookie sheet first.

Recipe Notes

  • If you wanted to get fancy with this old-fashioned vanilla cookie recipe, you could stir in some chocolate chips, nuts, flaked coconut or crushed up candy bars, or sprinkle with cinnamon-sugar or powdered sugar. (Shh! We won't tell grandma.)
  • Be sure that your butter is softened to room temperature before beating it with the sugar and vanilla.

Here's how to make it:

  1. Cream together the butter, sugar and vanilla.
  2. Stir in the flour.
  3. Form into balls and put them onto a cookie sheet.
  4. Bake in a preheated 325-degree F oven for about 12 to 14 minutes or until just set. Remove and cool.
