Copycat Chick-fil-A Chicken Sandwich Recipe: A Fried Chicken Sandwich From Your Air Fryer

Chick-fil-a sandwiches are a craving for so many people. If that craving hits on a Sunday, what's a person to do? Well, make their own chicken sandwich at home!

This easy copycat Chick-fil-a chicken sandwich recipe is cooked in an air fryer, so it's quick and easy. Serve this chicken sandwich with a salad, waffle fries, Chick-fil-a mac and cheese or potato chips, Chick-fil-a cole slaw and a side of Chick-fil-a sauce. Don't forget the cookies and cream milkshake or peach milkshake for dessert.

Ingredients

  • 1 chicken breast, split in half
  • 1 egg
  • 1/4 cup milk
  • 1 cup flour
  • 1 cup breadcrumbs
  • 2 slices American or cheddar cheese (optional)
  • 2 sandwich buns, toasted

Sandwich Toppings (Optional)

  • lettuce leaves
  • tomato slices
  • onion slices
  • pickle slices
  • mayonnaise
  • mustard

Here’s how to make it:

  1. Preheat air fryer to 400 degrees F.
  2. Split chicken breast in half and pound to about 1/4-inch thick. Season chicken with salt and pepper, to taste.
  3. In a bowl, whisk together the milk and egg.  Pour the flour into another bowl. Pour breadcrumbs into a third bowl.
  4. Dredge the chicken in the flour to coat. Shake off any excess. Dip the chicken in the egg mixture. Let any excess drip off. Dredge the chicken in breadcrumbs.
  5. Spray the top of the chicken with cooking spray. Place chicken in air fryer and cook for about 10 minutes at 400 degrees F, flipping the chicken at the 5-minute point.
  6. Remove chicken from the air fryer. Reduce the temperature to 350 degrees F. Place cheese on top of chicken. Return chicken to the air fryer and cook until cheese has melted. Assemble sandwich with your favorite toppings.
