Quick & Easy 3-Ingredient Apple Spice Cake Recipe Is a Moist Slice of Heaven

What's more delicious than a moist hot-out-of-the-oven apple cake? Not much. This easy apple cake recipe has just three ingredients! It's mixed and into the pan in minutes and on your plate (almost) as fast.

The moist apple spice cake is made with a box of spice cake mix, a can of apple pie filling and eggs. Four eggs, to be exact. The simple ingredients are mixed together, poured into a greased 13x9-inch baking pan and baked for about 25 to 30 minutes. How easy is that?

Serve this apple dessert recipe as-is, or add top with your favorite frosting, caramel sauce (as shown in picture), powdered sugar glaze or dust with powdered sugar. This moist apple cake is also fabulous with a scoop of vanilla ice cream or whipped cream.

Recipe Notes

  • If you only have a vanilla cake, you could use it and add your own spices to the mix: ground cinnamon, nutmeg, allspice, apple pie spice or our favorite baking spices.
  • Sprinkle the top with some ground cinnamon, if desired.

Here's how to make it:

  1. Combine all the ingredients in a mixing bowl.
  2. Pour into a greased 13x9-inch baking pan.
  3. Bake in a preheated 350-degree F oven for about 25 to 30 minutes.

Three-ingredient cake? Except that the cake mix is about 15 ingredients, and the apple pie filling is at least 4...

Woefully underwhelmed by this "recipe" and the enthusiastic praise from the readers.
Nancy Korczynski
OK so I want to make this but couldn't find a spice cake mix so how much of the spices do I need to put in.? 1/2 teaspoon of each or more or less? Only have a white cake mix .thx
Donna John
I did a little research and here's a basic measure for spices in a homemade spice cake: 1 1/2 teaspoons ground cinnamon, 1 teaspoon ground ginger, 1/2 teaspoon ground nutmeg and 1/2 teaspoon ground cloves. But add the spices according to your tastes. You could also just use pumpkin pie spice, which has mostly the same ingredients.
