Cuisine: Italian
Prep Time: 5 minutes
Cook Time: 10 minutes
Total Time: 15 minutes
Servings: 4
Ingredients
- 1/4 cup extra virgin olive oil
- 2 tablespoons unsalted butter
- 2 teaspoons crushed red pepper flakes
- 2 cloves garlic, sliced
- salt, to taste
- 1 package (17 ounces) capellini pasta (you could use regular spaghetti noodles)
- 3 lemons, zested and juiced
- 1/2 cup lemon basil or basil, for garnish (optional)
Here's how to make it:
- In a medium pot, boil 3 cups of salted water over high heat.
- Meanwhile, in a large sauté pan, bring the olive oil, butter, chili flakes, garlic and salt to a simmer over medium heat. Once simmering, add the uncooked pasta and a few ladles of the hot, salted water at a time. Cook the pasta until al dente, about 3 minutes, adding ladles of hot water as needed.
- Add the lemon zest, juice and basil to the pan. Stir until well combined. Garnish with basil leaves and a lemon slice, if desired.
